Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil had words of encouragement for Chris Rose after the Skye Camanachd full centre saw his hopes of earning a Scotland call-up dashed when he broke his finger in a league match against Beauly.

Rose had already attended an international fitness session at the Bught Park where his fitness levels caught the eye of the Scotland coaching staff. “It didn’t take him long to impress,” laughs McNeil. “He would certainly have made it to the trial game and he would have been in the mix with everyone else at that stage,” he added.

McNeil offered words of encouragement to Rose saying, “I saw a picture of the injury and it looked a nasty one. There’s always next year though and it would be good to see him back again then.”
