Kinlochshiel 2 Skye Camanachd 2 | |
09 May 2012 The Skye Camanachd second team drew 2-2 with Kinlochshiel at Kirkton in Marine Harvest North Division 2 on Saturday 5 May 2012. Skye manager Murdo Morrison named a 16 man squad for the game. Morrison made just two changes to the 17 man squad which lost to Kingussie in the Sutherland Cup the previous week as Chris Rose and Iain MacLellan stepped up to the first team. U17 player Iain MacLeod was added to the pool of players. Skye played up the slope in the first half and they took the lead on 11 minutes when full forward David Grant fired home from 20 yards. Skye wing centre Chris MacLennan was withdrawn mid-way through the first half as he was feeling unwell. Kinlochshiel equalised on 38 minutes when Graham MacRae netted following a goalmouth scramble. However Skye regained the lead 3 minutes before the break when a David Grant rocket from around the penalty spot flew past Iain Cameron in the home goal. The second half belonged to Kinlochshiel and a series of brilliant saves from Skye keeper John MacLeod kept the Islanders in front. The closest Skye came in the second period was a spectacular Will Cowie volley. Skye held the advantage until 8 minutes from time when a good run and shot from Jordan Fraser earned ‘Shiel a deserved share of the points. The point means that Skye leap-frog Glengarry into second place in the table. Best for Skye were Jack Latton who was excellent and put in a series of good blocks and Andrew Banks who turned in his usual dogged performance in defence.
