Kingussie High School Retain Great Glen Schools' Shinty Sixes | |
03 October 2012 Kingussie High School retained the Great Glen Schools' U16 Shinty Sixes at Blairbeg, Drumnadrochit on Wednesday 3 October 2012. A total of seven teams from across the Highlands took part in a round robin tournament, which saw Kingussie winning by a point from Lochaber High School who were second and Dingwall Academy who were third. Kingussie had further cause for celebration when defender Rory MacKeachan won player of the tournament. The other schools which took part were Charleston Academy, Kilchuimen Academy and two teams from Glen Urquhart High School. Even organiser, Allan MacLeod said, "This was the eighteenth Great Glen Schools' Shinty Sixes and the standard of shinty every year gets better and better, with this year not being any different. On behalf of the hosts, Glen Urquhart High School, I would like to thank Glen Urquhart Shinty Club for the use of their facilities and to DCR Sport for the donation of the shinty balls for the competition.
