Kilmallie Captain John Stewart Looking To Build On Fort Win | |
09 June 2012 Kilmallie captain John Stewart is looking for his side to build on their Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup win over Fort William as they look to continue their progression in the Scottish and fight off the threat of relegation from shinty’s top flight. Kilmallie ran out 3-1 winners against their fierce rivals at the Canal parks thanks to a good second half performance. Stewart said, “The game went well obviously. We played really well in the second half. I don't like singling anyone out but Michael Roger was superb in the second half.” Kilmallie have played well enough in the league in several games this season without reward. Stewart saw the cup game as a good distraction “It was good to relax away from the poor league campaign we have been having. We obviously knew they were short and it was going to be a great chance to win. I think they were six short. We also had Martin Graham, Martin Stewart and Euan Stoddart missing.” Stewart was in no doubt what the win should mean for his side as he added, “We really need to build on it and get two points against Bute in the league.” |
