22 October 2012 Kennedy The Obvious Choice For Captain Says Ross Rory Kennedy is the obvious choice to captain the Scotland U21 side says Head Coach Ronald Ross. Ross selected the Marine Harvest 2011 U21 National Player of the Year to lead his young troops for the international against Ireland U21 which takes place under the floodlights at St. Josephs Doora Barefield, Ennis on Friday 26 October 2012 with a 7pm throw-in. “It was an easy decision, really,” said Ross who has played directly against the Newtonmore defender on a number of occasions. “Despite his young age, Rory is one of the main defenders in the game of shinty. He is often given man-marking roles against some of the games’ top players and that shows how highly his club regard him.” Kennedy is sure to be give a prominent role in the game as the young Scots attempt to overcome their Irish opponents and Ross added, “Rory is the outstanding player at U21 level and he is good with the rest of the boys too so he was the obvious choice to be captain.”
