Glenurquhart 1 Skye Camanachd 4 - UPDATED! | |
27 July 2012 The Skye Camanachd second team had a 4-0 Marine Harvest North Division 2 win over Glenurquhart at Blairbeg on Saturday 21 July 2012. Skye Camanachd manager Murdo Morrison named a 15 man squad for the game. He was minus some regulars including Andrew Banks, John Angus MacInnes, David MacInnes and Allan MacLeod. However with the first team game against Inverness called off, he was able to call on the services of Iain Nicolson, Jordan Murchison, and Ally MacDonald. Glenurquhart boss Mike Cameron had Drew MacLennan, Calum Smith, Calum Miller, Gary Mackintosh, Ewan Fraser, Duncan Fraser, Ewan Menzies and Kelvin Mackenzie all missing. Skye took an 8 minute lead when Paul MacKinnon played the ball through to the edge of the D where Jordan Murchison ran onto it and slipped the ball past Cameron MacLennan in the Glen goal. However a Calum Fraser strike beat Iain Munro a couple of minutes before the break after the visiting keeper had saved from Ben Hosie. This squared the game at the interval. Two quick goals early in the second half gave Skye the initiative. First Ally MacDonald knocked the ball over the line following a goal-mouth scramble on 51 minutes to make it 2-1. Then, just 60 seconds later, Skye went 3-1 up in their next attack when Jordan Murchison got his second as he rifled the ball into the top left corner of the net from around the penalty spot. Will Cowie clinched the points 9 minutes from time when he pounced onto a loose ball on the right, around 15 yards from goal, and he struck a sweet shot across the keeper into the far corner of the net to make it 4-1. This was a good two points from a Skye side who benefited from their reinforcements.
