01 March 2012 The Camanachd Association Youth fixtures programme for the 2012 shinty season will be available for distribution at the start of the week commencingMonday 5 March 2012. The U17 London Shield programme will commence onTuesday 17 April 2012and the U14 fixtures will start onFriday 20 April 2012. The Camanachd Association Youth Development committee has agreed to suggestions to play this year’s U14 fixtures on Friday evenings instead of Thursdays as they were last year. However this will not stop clubs playing on a Thursday if they prefer as matches can be played before the allocated date as long as both teams are in agreement. There will also be a move to have all fixtures fulfilled on time. In an e-mail to clubs, Camanachd Association National Development OfficerRonald Rosssaid, “Last season we fell behind with the fixtures so this season we are asking clubs to strictly stick to the fixture list. Clubs cannot just postpone a fixture without contacting one of the Camanachd Association Development Officers to discuss the reason the match is not being played. The Development Officers will then make the decision whether the fixture can be played at a later date. In line with senior shinty, matches can only be postponed for a legitimate reason otherwise the team unwilling to play will lose the points. This unfortunately could result in fewer games for the youth players, but it is intended to be fair to the clubs that are playing their fixtures at the scheduled time.” The other change this year is the appointment of a Youth Fixtures Coordinator.Alasdair Brucefrom Skye Camanachd has agreed to take on this role and his task will be to collate the results from all games so that they can be displayed timeously on the Camanachd Association’s website. All clubs have been asked to text, phone or email Alasdair on the conclusion of a fixture on: 07748573710 or info@skyecamanachd.com Clubs should not assume that the home side has submitted the result so both clubs are asked to either text / phone / email their result along with the goal scorers. |
