05 June 2012 The Skye Camanachd U17 side beat Beauly U17 1-0 in a tight London Shield encounter at Braeview Park on Tuesday 5 June 2012. Skye Youth Coach Davie MacVicar had to do without the services of the injured Jack Latton whilst Mark Mortimer, Andrew Grant and Chris MacLennan were unavailable. Skye suffered an early blow when forward Angie MacPherson had to come off with a dead leg. Ruairidh Morrison came on in his place in the unfamiliar role of buckshee forward. The first half was fairly even with few chances with Ally MacCrimmon passing up a couple of opportunities for the Islanders. The second half followed a similar pattern. It looked as if the game would end goalless until 5 minutes from time when Angie Grant got on the end of a Will Cowie free-hit and he scored to give Skye both points. The Skye youngsters now have seven points from their opening five London Shield fixtures. They are second in the table, behind leaders Lochaber on goal difference. However third place Kinlochshiel have six points from three games but they have two games in hand. The top two teams qualify for the competition semi-finals.
