19 June 2017 There were a number of youth fixtures during the week.
Marine Harvest National U17 League – London Shield Section A Fort William beat Glenurquhart 3-0 at a wet An Aird. Paul Paterson gave the Fort an early lead before Victor Smith made it 2-0 after the break. Victor Smith got his second to complete the 3-0 win. The match between Skye Camanachd and Kinlochshiel was reversed to Kirkton with Skye winning 7-1. Skye’s Ross Gordon hit a treble; William MacKinnon notched a double whilst Daniel MacDonald and Marin Pringle got the others with Corrin Campbell scoring for ‘Shiel.
Section B Kingussie defeated Newtonmore 6-0 at The Dell. All the goals came in the second half. Liam Borthwick scored twice; Dylan Borthwick grabbed a hat-trick whilst Liam Baker got the other. The meeting between Oban Camanachd and Lochaber at Mossfield will be rescheduled.
Marine Harvest U17 Development League – W.J. Cameron Skye Camanachd B beat Glengarry 5-2 at Craigard. Stuart MacArthur scored both ‘Garry goals but Jamie MacPhie and doubles from Niall MacPhie and Taylor Matheson gave Skye victory.
Marine Harvest U14 North League Section A Newtonmore defeated Lovat 10-0 at The Eilan The match between Lochaber and Kingussie at Spean Bridge was postponed.
Section B Fort William and Glengarry at An Aird. The Fort took the initiative from the start with Archie MacKinnon scoring. In fact the home side led 4-0 with less than 10 minutes played as Alfie Duncan, Hamish Shaw and Craig MacDonald adding to their tally. Glengarry pulled a goal back early in the second period with Fergus Donald scoring. The visitors could have further reduced the deficit had it not been for some fine goalkeeping from Jack Kearney in the Fort William goal. The meeting between Ardnamurchan and Kilmallie will be rescheduled. Section C Skye Camanachd were too strong for Caberfeidh, winning 17-0 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree.
Section D A Torrin Cairns double and a Jamie Forsyth goal gave Beauly a 3-2 win over Glenurquhart at Braeview Park.
National U14 Development Trophy League A Ballachulish beat Oban Lorn 5-1 in their Development match at Mossfield. Lewis Moran put Balla’ ahead before William MacEwan equalised. However Daniel MacLean, David Wilson, Lewis Moran and Nathan MacLeod all scored to send Balla’ through to U14 Development Cup Final. The games between Ballachulish and Ardnamurchan and Ardnamurchan and Oban Lorn were postponed.
League B Strathglass hosted this event at Cannich. Glengarry defeated Strathglass 3-0 with Gabriel MacCallum scoring twice and Ronan Blakely getting the other. Strathspey and Glengarry drew 1-1 with Euan Dingwall for Strathspey and Cameron Fraser for ‘Garry on target. Strathglass beat Strathspey 3-2. Euan Dingwall and Jack Nelson got the Strathspey goals but a Daniel MacLean double and Douglas Pocock gave Strathglass victory. |
