WCA Take Imaginative Step To Solve Fixture Problem | |
20 February 2016 The Womens Camanachd Association has taken an imaginative step to solve fixture problem in Marine Harvest National Division 1 this season. The WCA league structure for 2016 has Marine Harvest National Division 1 sitting above Marine Harvest North Division 2 and Marine Harvest South Division 2. With Glengarry’s decision to opt to play in Marine Harvest North Division 2, it looked as if the top flight would consist of just five teams – Aberdour, Badenoch & Strathspey, Glasgow Mid Argyll, Lochaber and Skye Camanachd. However there will now be a sixth team with the inclusion of an "All Stars" team made up from players playing in Marine Harvest North Division 2. The move will not only give the top flight teams extra games but will also provide valuable experience to players in the game’s second tier. Glenurquhart, Glengarry, Inverness, Lovat, Strathglass and Strathspey make up Marine Harvest North Division 2. Ardnamurchan, Cowal & Bute, Dunadd, Fort William, Glasgow Mid Argyll and Lorn will contest Marine Harvest South Division 2. There will also be a set of Development League fixtures throughout the season. The WCA league programme starts on Saturday 5 March 2016. |
