The Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup quarter-final draw took place at Inverness Castle on Monday 26 July 2021.
Skye Camanachd and Lovat meet at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree this coming Saturday in the competitions only remaining second round tie and the winners will travel to Mossfield to face 2019 finalists Oban Camanachd in the last-eight of this year’s competition.
2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the inaugural Albert Smith Medal, presented to the Camanachd Cup Final man of the match and to celebrate this landmark, Rena Smith, Albert Smith’s daughter-in-law, and Victor Smith, Albert Smith’s grandfather, were in attendance to make the draw.
The full draw is as follows:
Kinlochshiel v Oban Celtic
Oban Camanachd v Skye Camanachd / Lovat
Beauly v Kyles Athletic
Kingussie v Kilmallie
The quarter-final ties are scheduled for Saturday 7 August 2021 with the draw for the semi-finals taking place during the week commencing Monday 9 August 2021. The semi-final ties are due to be played on Saturday 28 August 2021 and Saturday 4 September 2021.
Camanachd Association President Steven MacKenzie said: “This year represents the 125th anniversary of our sport’s “blue riband” trophy, the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup and the competition is shaping up to be as exciting as ever.
“The support Tulloch Homes has provided the Camanachd Association with over the past few years has been nothing short of incredible and our thanks go to them for that.
“I wish the best of luck to all teams in the next round as we edge ever closer to that historic day on Saturday 18 September 2021.”
George Fraser, Tulloch Homes CEO added: “It is great to see competitive shinty back. The teams in today’s draw can start looking forward to reaching a Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final in Oban in September. We wish all teams in today’s draw every success in the next round, which takes the winners of those matches another step closer to the Final.”
Victor Smith, grandson of Albert Smith said: “Everyone in the family is very proud of the fact that the medal continues to be so important to this day.
“We know that on Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final day, everyone gives 100% so to be that player who has shone brighter than everyone else on such a big occasion is no mean feat.
“You need only look at the list of past winners to see just how many great players have worn the medal over the years.”
