Lochcarron 2 Lewis Camanachd 3 Lochcarron and Lewis Camanachd renewed rivalries in this pre-season encounter but, with Battery Park unplayable, this 1pm throw up was switched to the all-weather pitch at Millburn Academy, Inverness. Both keepers were called into action early on before Lewis forward Scott MacLeod beat his marker to make it 1-0 with 18 minutes played. Lochcarron hit the frame of the goal before a strike from Kieran Murray beat Lewis keeper Eoghan Stewart to make it 1-1. Keeper Eoghan Stewart make a couple of smart saves before, at the other end, Scott MacLeod saw a shot saved but Donald Lamont was on hand to knock the rebound into the net to put Lewis back in front. Ronan Sinclair replaced an injured Conor MacDonald for the Islanders as they took their 2-1 lead into the break. Daniel Gallagher cleared the ball off the line to deny Lochcarron a leveller whilst a shot from Lewis captain Kenny Murray, against his former club, flew past the post with both teams going for goal. Lewis started to pin back their opponents though and a fine Donald Lamont drive produced a superb save from the Lochcarron keeper before Seamus Charity and Ally Lamont combined to set up a second goal for 15 year old Scott MacLeod and his back-hand strike from distance gave Lewis a 3-1 lead. Donald Lamont went close to adding a fourth before Lochcarron stormed back and Euan MacFadyen made it 3-2 and that’s the way it stayed until referee Archie Ritchie blew for full time. The only down-side for Lewis was a hand injury to key defender Daniel Gallagher late in the game and new boss Duncan MacIntyre will hope he is fit for the start of the new shinty season.
