Kyles Athletic 4 Fort William 0 Kyles Athletic go top of the Orion Group Premiership following their 4-0 win over Fort William at Tighnabruaich. Roddy MacDonald scored the only goal of the first half in the opening minute. The 2012 Marine Harvest National Player of the year went on to complete his hat-trick with efforts on 48 and 71 minutes. Dunkie Kerr rounded off the scoring 9 minutes from time. It wasn’t all one-way traffic though and home keeper Kenny MacDonald made some good saves, particularly in the second half. Kyles won without the services of Euan Campbell, Calum Miller, Andrew King and Gordon Whyte.
Newtonmore 5 Lochaber 1 Newtonmore go second in the table after beating Lochaber 5-1 in bitterly cold conditions at the Eilan. Danny MacRae gave ‘More a 4 minutes lead but Stuart Callison’s 32 minute strike levelled the game at the break. However Newtonmore went on to stamp their authority on the game in the second half with Danny MacRae taking his tally to four goals and Chris Seller getting the other. The home side had to do without Glen MacKintosh, Steven MacDonald and Fraser MacKintosh but Rory Kennedy was passed fir to play.
Oban Camanachd 3 Kingussie 1 Oban Camanachd picked up their first points of the season, beating early league leaders Kingussie 3-1 at Mossfield. The Oban side led 2-1 at the break with Iain Campbell and Iain MacMillan scoring either side of a Thomas Borthwick goal. Andrew MacCuish sealed the win with a strike on the hour.
Inveraray 2 Lovat 2 There was late drama at the Winterton where Inveraray and Lovat shared the points following a 2-2 draw. Chris Crawford put Inveraray ahead 3 minutes before the break. Ryan Ferguson made it 1-1 on 56 minutes and Greg Matheson looked to have won the points for Lovat when he netted just 2 minutes from time. However a David Robertson goal on the stroke of full time earned the home side a point. Inveraray’s Allan MacDonald was red-carded by referee Billy Wotherspoon whilst Lovat were without banned duo Callum Cruden and Lorne MacKay.
Kinlochshiel 2 Glenurquhart 1 Kinlochshiel left it late before beating Glenurquhart 2-1 at Kirkton. Neale Reid gave the Glen the lead on the stroke of half-time. Gordie MacDonald fired home the equaliser on 75minutes and Keith MacRae struck with just 60 seconds remaining to give the home side the points.
Marine Harvest North Division 1 Kilmallie 3 Skye Camanachd 1 Kilmallie go two points clear at the top of the table following a 3-1 win over Skye Camanachd to the Canal Parks. Grant MacKenzie put Kilmallie ahead after 5 minutes but a Danny Morrison goal 5 minutes from the interval drew Skye level. Mark Graham put Kilmallie back in front a couple of minutes after the restart and Grant MacKenzie got his second on 64 minutes to make it 3-1. Kilmallie had keeper Kevin Toye to thank for some fine saves throughout the game.
Caberfeidh 2 Beauly 3 Beauly beat Caberfeidh 3-2 at Castle Leod. Ross Forbes put Beauly ahead but efforts from Craig Morrison and Blair Morrison either side of the break gave Cabers a 2-1 advantage. However Barrie MacDonald and Marc MacLachlan won the day for Beauly who go second in the table.
Inverness 4 Strathglass 2 Inverness picked up their first points of the season with a 4-2 victory over Strathglass at the Bught Park. The home side raced into a 4-0 lead with James Cameron getting all their goals. Two late Robert Geddes strikes were not enough for Strathglass.
Marine Harvest South Division 1 Strachur 0 Glasgow Mid Argyll 6 Early pace-setters Glasgow Mid Argyll beat Strachur 6-0 at Dalmally. Mark Bain grabbed a hat-trick, Craig Anderson bagged a double and Euan Forsyth got the other.
Glenorchy 3 Taynuilt 1 Glenorchy are in second place on goal difference after they won their derby meeting with Taynuilt 3-1 at Mart Park. Kieran MacKay got two with Finlay Ross getting the other. Willie Neilson countered for Taynuilt.
Aberdour 5 Bute 4 Aberdour followed up last weekend’s draw with Kilmory with a superb 5-4 win over Bute in Fife. All the Aberdour goals came from ex-Lochcarron players with Darren Coyle getting a hat-trick and John MacLennan helping himself to a brace. The home side lead 4-0 at one stage. Iain MacDonald scored twice for Bute with player / manager Graham Fisher and John MacCallum getting the others.
Kilmory 1 Oban Celtic 3 Oban Celtic won 3-1 at Kilmory with David Hill scoring twice and Kenny Wotherspoon getting the other. Craig Taylor was on target for Kilmory.
Marine Harvest North Division 2 Skye Camanachd 3 Newtonmore 2 Skye Camanachd edged out Newtonmore with a 3-2 win at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. Mark MacDonald gave ‘More a 10 minute lead but Alan Palmer made it 1-1 a couple of minutes into the second half. A deflected Martin Hall drive put the visitors back in front on 62 minutes but Skye came back and drew level again following a turn and shot from Angie MacDonald on 77 minutes. Paul MacKinnon got the winner just 3 minutes from time when he forced a Kenny Campbell free-hit over the line to make it 3-2. Skye will be delighted with the win whilst the outcome was a little harsh on Newtonmore.
Beauly 1 Lovat 1 The reserve derby at Braeview Park finished 1-1 between Beauly and Lovat. Martin Davidson gave Beauly a 1-0 lead but Fraser Gallacher made it 1-1 from the penalty spot on 65 minutes after a foul on Laura Gallacher.
Glenurquhart 4 Kinlochshiel 1 Jack Hosie scored 5 minutes from the start and 5 minutes from the end as Glenurquhart beat Kinlochshiel 4-1 at Blairbeg. Euan Lloyd and Kerr Urquhart got the others for the home side with Duncan MacRae on target for ‘Shiel.
Fort William 2 Glengarry 1 A couple of familiar faces gave Fort William a 2-1 win over Glengarry at An Aird. Bryan Simpson and Duncan Rodger stepped down from first team shinty at the end of last season but both returned to put the second team 2-0 ahead at the break. Daniel MacLennan gave Glengarry hope with a 75 minute goal but Fort took the points.
Kingussie 1 Aberdeen University 1 First half goals from Chris Hollysong for the home side and Paul Connelly for the visitors gave Kingussie and Aberdeen University a point each in blizzard conditions at the Dell. Kingussie were without the injured Ally MacLeod but Michael Clark and John Gibson returned. The Students had to do without forward Jamie Beaton who has a broken wrist.
Marine Harvest South Division 2 Glasgow Mid Argyll 1 Ballachulish 6 Bottom of the table Glasgow Mid Argyll went down 6-1 to league leaders Ballachulish at Yoker. Duncan MacDonald took his tally for the season to seven goals with a hat-trick. Lorne Brown got two and Scott Henderson got the other.
Bute 0 Kyles Athletic 2 Goals from Scott MacDonald and David Martin gave Kyles Athletic a 2-0 derby win over Bute at the Meadows.
Tayforth 3 Aberdour 0 Tayforth picked up their first points of the season as they beat Aberdour 3-0 in Musselburgh. Brendan Duggan scored twice and Lee Fleming was also on target.
Col Glen 1 Inveraray 3 Ross Anderson put Inveraray ahead against Col Glen. Willie MacVicar levelled but a Scott Robertson strike on the half hour gave the visitors the lead at the break. Neil Shaw sealed the win with a 65 minute effort.
Marine Harvest North Division 3 Strathglass 0 Kilmallie 3 Kilmallie go top of the table with a 3-0 win over Strathglass at Cannich. Donnie Campbell, Bryan MacKay and Craig MacIsaac were on target.
Lochbroom 3 Lochaber 5 Lochaber were 5-3 winners in a thrilling encounter with Lochbroom in Ullapool. Both sides had won their opening two games and they were only separated on goal difference so this was always going to be a cracker. Keith Neville put Lochaber ahead on 10 minutes but Neil Fraser levelled just 3 minutes later. Neville got his second on 24 minutes but again Lochbroom fought back and Johno Morrison made it 2-2 on 38 minutes. Keith Neville completed his hat-trick just 60 seconds later to make it 3-2 and the visitors extended their lead on 53 minutes when Barry MacDonald made it 4-2. Lochbroom made it 4-3 on the hour mark when Neil Fraser got his second but a 68 minute Finlay MacDonald strike gave Lochaber a 5-3 win and both points.
Lochcarron 1 Lewis Camanachd 1 It took an Iain MacKenzie goal 10 minutes from time to give Lochcarron a point against Lewis Camanachd at Battery Park. Seamus Charity had put the Islanders ahead on 26 minutes.
Boleskine 5 Caberfeidh 1 Boleskine beat Caberfeidh 5-1 at Farr. Craig Pirrie, Raymond Robertson, Lewis Smith and a double from Ewan Fraser counted for the home side with Scott MacLennan scoring for the Cabers colts.
Strathspey Camanachd 2 Inverness 1 Strathspey beat Inverness 2-1 at Freuchie Park. Gavin Wood pot the home side ahead on 10 minutes and Andrew Hay added a second on 32 minutes. Iain Greenhouse pulled a goal back for Inverness on 70 minutes but Strathspey saw out the game to take the points. |
