The amazing story of the shinty-playing, hammer throwing champion whose Olympian feats were put on hold because of lambing are told in the Daily Record.
TR Nicolson was a farmer. And an Olympian. He threw the hammer at two Olympics in the early 1900s but his glittering athletic career took backseat to his life on the land.
He is also the only man in the world whose qualification was waived for the Olympic Games because he was busy lambing at his farm in Tighnabruaich.
