Skye trio Lorna MacRae, Caitlin MacLean and Rhianna Kirk were to the fore as Scotland Ladies returned from Dublin with the win they wanted, beating the Dublin County Ladies Select 19-10 in their latest Shinty / Camogie clash; a 2pm throw up at Na Fianna, Dublin on Saturday 15 July 2017.
This was the second game of a three match series and the Dubs were convincing winners in Inverness last year.
Goals from Lovat’s Laura Gallacher and Skye Camanachd captain Lorna MacRae and Kirsty Deans’ point and had the Scots 7-4 ahead but the Dubs fought back to draw 7-7 at the interval.
The sides exchanged points before Lorna MacRae scored for a second time, set up by Laura Gallacher, to make it 11-8 and the Scots never looked back.
Lorna MacRae completed her hat-trick and then added a two-pointer from a 45 to make it 16-8.
Ireland pulled a couple of points back to make it 16-10 before Badenoch’s Zoe Reid also found the back of the net before referee Karl O’Brien’s final whistle confirmed Scotland’s 19-10 win.
The player of the match honour was shared between Dublin captain Louise O’Hara and Scotland captain Katy Smith.
Scotland captain Katy Smith was presented with the trophy by Dublin Camogie Chairman Patrick Martin.
The 2018 meeting between the teams in Inverness will decide the outcome of this three match series.
