Skye Suspend All Shinty Activity | |
23 August 2021 Skye Camanachd has taken the decision to suspend all first team, second team and U17 team shinty activity until Monday 30 August 2021. This includes training and match day fixtures. The club were informed on Sunday 22 August 2021 of a positive lateral flow case from one of our weekend opponents. We are grateful for the early notification and, having discussed all factors and given the imminent U17 MacTavish Juvenile Cup semi-final tie on Tuesday evening, the club has decided to postpone all first team, second team and U17 team shinty training and fixtures until Monday 30 August 2021. Our players have followed our guideline of twice weekly lateral flow testing however given that any potential covid symptoms are unlikely to present until the tail end of this week, we feel this could pose a transmission risk to our players, volunteers, coaches, their families and the wider community along with any opposing teams. Navigating all the guidance and the problems covid has presented this season has been incredibly time consuming for our volunteers. Skye Camanachd as a club has always tried to make informed, concise and rational decisions which have prioritised the health and well-being of our players and volunteers. We will continue to lateral flow test our seniors and ladies and introduce the measures with our youth teams too. We hope that by making a timely decision based on the information we have at present, we reduce the possibility of any transmission risk. Stay safe Skye Camanachd |
