Skye Shinty Talks | |
19 February 2018 There will be two Skye Shinty Talks this week. There will be a Shinty Night in Staffin Community Hall on Tuesday 20 February 2018. Dr Hugh Dan MacLennan and Professor Norman MacDonald will discuss North Skye’s contribution to the game including Peter MacDonald MacLeod, Garafad, the Staffin schoolboy who became a national sporting figure in the 1920s. There will also be an illustrated introduction from the Great Book of Skye on the seven men from Skye who have been elected Chief and President of the Camanachd Association – 1951-2014. The event starts at 7pm and entry is by donation. The following day, Wednesday 21 February 2018, Dr Hugh Dan MacLennan and Professor Norman MacDonald will be at the Skye & Lochalsh Archive Centre at the Elgin Hostel, Portree to examine Skye’s contribution to shinty at a national level. This event is from 11am to 12.30pm and admission is free. |
