31 January 2022 With Ferguson Transport & Shipping confirmed as new Balliemore Cup sponsors, Skye Camanachd have been handed an away tie against Glengarry following the draw which took place at Ferguson Transport & Shipping HQ, Fort William on Monday 31 January 2022. The draw was conducted by Ally Ferguson, Managing Director, Ferguson Transport & Shipping; along with his fellow Directors: Jack Ferguson and Lesley Innes. The first round ties were regionalised with the quarter-finals onwards part of an open draw. Skye visit Craigard to play Mowi North Division 1 side Glengarry on Saturday 7 May 2022 with the visitors away to last year’s runners-up Beauly. Ally Ferguson, Managing Director, Ferguson Transport & Shipping said: “I’ve been involved in shinty for over 40 years and I know what it means to the communities that play the ancient game. Many of the areas in which we operate across Scotland play shinty and that includes a number of our employees so we are delighted to extend our support for the sport by signing a 3-year deal for title sponsorship of the Balliemore Cup.” Derek Keir CEO of the Camanachd Association added: “We are delighted that Ferguson Transport & Shipping have extended their support for shinty to encompass the title sponsorship for the Balliemore Cup – a national competition that always provides an exciting final. We now stand on the precipice of a full season once again and this draw will undoubtedly excite players, coaches and volunteers alike.” Steven MacKenzie, Camanachd Association President, said: “The Camanachd Association are pleased to have conducted the first cup draw of the 2022 season. There are plenty of great 1st Round fixtures to whet the appetite with Strathglass making the short trip to Drumnadrochit to take on Glenurquhart while in the South section 2021 semi-finalists Bute face off against Aberdour. Beauly and Inveraray will be happy they go straight into the quarter-final courtesy of a bye. With the full draw taking place today, there is no doubt clubs will be mapping their potential route to the final.
