30 April 2014 Skye Camanachd U14 won 8-0 in their opening Local League match against Kinlochshiel U14 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Friday 25 April 2014. Skye Youth Coach John MacLeod had two late call-offs so had to do without Ryan MacAskill and Angus MacDonald. James Morrison and Calum Robertson were called up to the squad in their place. Skye took the lead in the first minute when ‘Shiel keeper Corran Campbell made a save and Skye forward Ruaraidh MacLeod was first to react to score from the rebound. Corran Campbell was in action again on 5 minutes when he saved from Marcus Ross. Skye doubled their advantage on 10 minutes when Emma Gordon pushed the ball home from close range. Corran Campbell saved again a minute later. Ruaraidh MacLeod got his second when he made it 3-0 on 19 minutes with a snap-shot from 12 yards. John Gillies volleyed home from a Connor Gilpin corner to make it 4-0 on 24 minutes. Emma Gordon got her second and Skye’s fifth goal of the evening on the half hour mark when she was in the right place at the right time to finish. The home side made a change on 50 minutes when Martin Pringle replaced Mark MacQueen at wing forward. John Gillies finished well 5 minutes later after some good lead up play from Martin Pringle. Skye made further changes on 56 minutes when Calum Robertson replaced Anna MacDonald and James Morrison came on for Emma Gordon. Skye substitute Calum Robertson almost made an immediate impact when his shot cannoned off the crossbar on 57 minutes. Skye hit the frame of the goal again on the hour mark when a Marcus Ross volley from a Stewart Taylor corner cracked off the post. John Gillies wrapped up the win when he completed his hat-trick on 68 minutes when he flicked the ball past Corran Campbell to make it 7-0. Gillies then pushed the ball home from inside the D a minute later for his fourth goal which sealed an 8-0 win. Best for Skye were John Gillies with four goals, Connor Gilpin and Stewart Taylor in midfield and defenders Marcus Ross and Ross Nicolson in. Keeper Corran Campbell shone for Kinlochshiel with some fine saves.
