Skye Camanachd U14 4 Beauly U14 4 - UPDATED! | |
27 September 2013 Skye Camanachd U14 and Beauly U14 shared the points following an entertaining 4-4 draw in their Marine Harvest North Division 1 meeting at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 21 September 2013. The Islanders were without the injured John MacInnes for this 11.30pm throw up and they were looking to bounce back from the disappointment of the previous week’s 2-1 MacMaster Cup Final defeat to Oban Camanachd. However Ryan O’Halloran was missing as were Conor Gilpin and the rest of the Portree Primary School players as they travelled south to play in the annual Milngavie & Bearsden tournament. Beauly Youth Coach Neil Brindle travelled with just twelve players but he was able to call on the services of Robbie Brindle and Sandy Elrick. Both have starred for the Beauly second team in recent weeks and have been called up for the North U14 squad to play the South U14 at the end of the month. However Brindle was not fully fit so he started in goal with regular keeper Cameron Tillman playing outfield. Beauly took the lead and it was Cameron Tillman who beat Skye keeper Jack Henderson to make it 1-0. However Skye raced into a 3-1 interval lead thanks to strikes from James Pringle and a Conor Ross brace. Beauly took Robbie Brindle out of goal for the second half and he was to prove influential in attack. Beauly turned a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead thanks to goals from Sandy Elrick, Jordan Zblewski and Robbie Brindle. However a Ryan Morrison goal 5 minutes from time rescued a point for the Islanders. The main beneficiaries from this result are Kingussie U14 who went three points clear at the top of the league following their 7-0 win over Kilmallie U17.
