27 August 2016 Although the Skye Camanachd first and second teams were idle, three other Skye teams had important fixtures this week. The Skye Camanachd first team did not have a fixture. The Skye Camanachd second team did not have a fixture The Skye Camanachd Ladies faced Lochaber Ladies in the Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup Final at An Aird on Saturday 27 August 2016. Two goals from Kirsty Delaney in the first half cancelled out Lorna MacRae’s goal for Skye to leave the Spean Bridge side 2-1 ahead at the break. Skye pressed hard for a leveller but player of the match Aileen Campbell was in excellent form in the Lochaber goal. In the end, Kirsty Delaney scored twice more for Lochaber with Lorna MacRae getting another for Skye so Lochaber ran out 4-2 winners. Skye Camanachd U17 won their first match in Section A of the London Shield, beating Strathglass U17 12-0 at Cannich on Tuesday 23 August 2016. Brothers Martin Pringle and James Pringle grabbed hat-tricks, Ross Gordon and Mark MacQueen both scored twice whilst John Gillies and a Stewart Taylor penalty also counted. Skye Camanachd U14 are through to the MacMaster Cup Final after they beat Fort William U14 4-2 in their semi-final meeting at Braeview Park on Friday 26 August 2016. Ross Gordon, Abby MacLean twice and Ryan Macaskill got the Skye goals. David Duncan and Victor Smith were on target for the Fort. |
