24 May 2014 Skye Camanachd teams were in youth, reserve team and first team shinty action this week and they each recorded three wins. The Skye Camanachd first team hit on the road again as they headed for the Bught Park for a Marine Harvest North Division 1 meeting with Inverness on Saturday 24 May 2014. Charlie MacDonald put Inverness ahead on 26 minutes, scoring the first goal against Skye in the league this season. However a cross into the Inverness goal area was turned into his own net by Michael Price on 36 minutes. Skye went ahead for the first time in the match just 3 minutes later when Kenny Campbell beat Stuart MacRae to make it 2-1. Skye sealed the win with goals from Danny Morrison on 61 minutes and Kenny MacLeod on 69 minutes and they go three points clear at the top of the table following the Kingussie second teams 4-3 win over Strathglass. The Skye Camanachd second team had an impressive 4-2 Marine Harvest North Division 2 derby win over Lochcarron at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 24 May 2014. Gregor Cushnie put Lochcarron ahead midway through the first half following a David MacCuish corner on the left. A second half John Angus MacInnes goal and an Iain MacLellan brace left Skye 3-1 to the good. Gregor Cushnie smashed home his and Lochcarron’s second before Skye sub Kyle Pirie rounded off the win with a late goal to make it 4-2. The Skye Camanachd Ladies were to have a Valerie Fraser Cup quarter final tie with Strathglass Ladies at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. However the Cannich side were unable to raise a team so Skye go through to the semi final stage where they will play Glengarry Ladies. Skye Camanachd U17 did not have a fixture. Skye Camanachd U14 are through to the next round of the MacMaster cup after they beat Caberfeidh U14 7-0 at Castle Leod on Friday 23 May 2014. Conor Gilpin opened the scoring for Skye, Ruairidh MacLeod chipped in with a hat-trick and Martin Pringle, Angus MacDonald and Mark MacQueen got the others. |
