23 April 2016 Four Skye Camanachd teams were in action this week. A depleted Skye Camanachd first team put in a good performance before two late goals gave Kyles Athletic a 2-0 win at Tighnabruaich in the Marine Harvest Premiership on Saturday 23 April 2016. Skye travelled six regular players short and then lost full back Steven Morrison who took unwell on the journey south. The match was goalless until 9 minutes from time when Roddy MacDonald, back in the side after missing the previous weekend’s win over Bute, gave the home side the lead. Gordon Whyte made it 2-0 on 84 minutes and Kyles are now one of five teams on seven points at the top of the table. The Skye Camanachd second team also suffered the late goals blues when they lost 1-0 to the Beauly second team in their Marine Harvest North Division 1 match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 23 April 2016. This was a game of few real chances and Skye came within a whisker of going in front when a David Grant shot came back off the base of the post. However Beauly took advantage of a late set-piece opportunity when Martin Davidson slipped the ball back to Marc MacLachlan who gave Skye keeper Ryan Morrison no chance with a fierce drive on 87 minutes. Skye Camanachd U17 came from 2-0 down to beat Kinlochshiel U17 4-2 in their opening London Shield match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Tuesday 19 April. 2016. ‘Shiel led 2-0 through goals from Duncan Matheson and Corran Campbell. However James Pringle pulled a goal back from the penalty spot just before half time. James Pringle scored twice more after the break to complete his hat-trick and Skye substitute Mark MacQueen made it 4-2.
