18 April 2015 The Skye Camanachd first and second teams both recorded victories whilst The Skye Ladies had a walk-over on Saturday 18 April 2015. The Skye Camanachd first team beat Taynuilt 9-0 in their Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Preliminary Round tie at the Taynuilt Playing Field. It took Skye 42 minutes to break the deadlock with Kenny Campbell notching the only goal of the first half. The Islanders then hit Taynuilt with a goal blitz; scoring seven times in a 16 minutes period. Jordan Murchison made it 2-0 a minute after the restart. Danny Morrison added a third on 50 minutes with Jordan Murchison getting his second goal a couple of minutes later. Will Cowie got in on the act to make it 5-0 on 54 minutes with Murchison completing his hat-trick on 57 minutes. Will Cowie added his second a minute later before Danny Morrison did like-wise on 61 minutes to make it 8-0. Skye made positional changes and Neil MacVicar rounded off the scoring to make it 9-0 just 4 minutes from time. Skye will now travel to Oban to play Oban Celtic in the first round proper. The Skye Camanachd second team maintained their 100% Marine Harvest North Division 2 record and they go two points clear at the top of the table after they beat Caberfeidh 3-1 in their noon meeting at Castle Leod for a meeting Caberfeidh. John Angus MacInnes gave Skye a 35 minute lead. Connor Gilpin notched a debut goal on 70 minutes to make it 2-0. When referee Evan MacRae awarded Cabers a penalty a couple of minutes later, Colin MacLennan stepped up to score from the spot. However Connor Gilpin rounded off a good day for him and Skye when he made it 3-1 just 5 minutes from time. The Skye Camanachd Ladies were given a walk-over when Lochaber Ladies were unable to raise a team for their Marine Harvest National Division 1 match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. |
