16 September 2017 It was trophy day for the Skye Camanachd first team at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. The Skye Camanachd first team beat at battling Inveraray side 3-0 in their Marine Harvest National Division encounter at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 16 September 2017. A blistering Will Cowie strike from wide on the left on 37 minutes was the only goal of the first half. Iain MacLellan added a second on 73 minutes after Inveraray goalie Scott MacLachlan had made a great save from Danny Morrison. James Pringle added a third 5 minutes from time when he sent the ball low into the net from a central position. With Camanachd Association President-elect Keith Loades in attendance, Skye Camanachd were presented with the Marine Harvest National Division trophy by John Angus Gillies from sponsors Marine Harvest. The teams also contested the 2016 Thomas Ferguson Memorial Cup and Skye captain Kenny Campbell received this trophy from former Skye player Sammy Gordon. The Skye Camanachd second team have completed their competitive fixtures for the season. Skye Camanachd Ladies were to play Lovat Ladies in a Marine Harvest National Division 1 match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 16 September 2017. However Lovat were unable to raise a team so Skye have been awarded the points. Skye Camanachd U17 were to play Fort William U17 in a London Shield encounter on Tuesday 12 September 2017 but the game was postponed as An Aird was unplayable. Skye Camanachd U14 recorded a fine 6-5 win against MacMaster Cup finalists Lochaber U14 in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Friday 15 September 2017. Taylor Matheson scored five times for Skye whilst Liam MacQueen got the other. This was a very good game and a terrific Skye performance. |
