Skye Camanachd Saturday Shinty Shorts - UPDATED! | |
14 March 2015 Three Skye Camanachd teams were in action this weekend. The Skye Camanachd first team were to play Glenorchy in Marine Harvest National Division on Saturday 14 March 2015. However following Glenorchy’s decision to play in Marine Harvest South Division 1 this season, Skye were without a fixture. The Skye Camanachd reserves recorded their second successive league win when they beat the Lochaber seconds 5-2 in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 clash Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. Skye got off to the perfect start when Iain MacLellan put them ahead with less than a minute played. MacLellan added a second on 10 minutes before completing his hat-trick on 33 minutes. Skye were awarded a penalty a couple of minutes later. Bryn Whittaker made a brilliant save from Jordan Murchison’s spot-hit but John Angus MacInnes was able to score following the ensuing goalmouth scramble. John Gillies made it 5-0 with his fourth goal in two games. Lochaber gave Skye a late fright with goals from Shane Latto on 79 minutes and Ben Delaney 5 minutes from time but Skye took the points. After their postponement last weekend, the Skye Camanachd Ladies started their league programme with 7-0 win over newly promoted Oban Lorn Ladies in their Marine Harvest National Division 1 meeting at Mossfield on Sunday 15 March 2015. New Skye captain Jenna Beaton scored four whilst Anna MacDonald bagged a brace and Lorna MacRae got the other. Skye Camanachd U17 have not yet started their competitive fixtures.
