10 May 2014 Five Skye Camanachd teams were scheduled to be in action this week. The Skye Camanachd first team are through to the Balliemore Cup semi finals after a 1-0 win over Strathglass at Cannich on Saturday 10 May 2014. Skye made a slow start to the game and the first half ended goalless. Jordan Murchison had the ball in the net in the second half but the goal was ruled out for offside by goal judge Eoghan Stewart. Shockie MacLennan is on a good scoring run for Skye and he got the only goal of the game when he turned quickly to beat his marker and he smashed the ball into the net to make it 1-0. Skye join Aberdour, Ballachulish and Inverness in the semi finals. The Skye Camanachd second team lost 5-2 to Lovat in their Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup second round tie at Balgate on Saturday 10 May 2014. An early Thomas Fraser double on 3 and 12 minutes gave Lovat an early lead. Rory Campbell made it 3-0 on 16 minutes and when Thomas Fraser completed his hat-trick on 25 minutes, the hosts were in the driving seat. Angie MacDonald pulled a goal back for Skye a couple of minutes into the second half but an Alan MacPherson penalty on 75 minutes made it 5-1. Skye U17 player Conor Ross got his first goal at second team level 3 minutes later but Lovat ran out deserved winners. The Skye Camanachd Ladies beat Aberdour Ladies 2-0 in their WCA Marine Harvest National Division 1 match at Pairc nan Laoch. Portree on Saturday 10 May 2014. Two goals in two minutes on 26 minutes and 27 minutes from Caitlin MacLean made the difference as Skye close the gap on third place Aberdour to a point. Skye Camanachd U17 lost 2-1 to Lochcarron U17 in their MacTavish Juvenile Cup first round tie at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Thursday 8 May 2014. Ryan Morrison gave Skye and early lead but first half goals from Nick Dalgety and Colin MacRae put Lochcarron through to the next round. The Skye Camanachd A U14 and Kinlochshiel U14 sides were to have a Local League match at Kirkton on Friday 9 May 2014. However the game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. |
