12 August 2014 The Skye Camanachd second team lost out to Newtonmore in the Strathdearn Cup Final at the weekend. The Skye Camanachd first team did not have a game as it was their “Free Saturday”. The Skye Camanachd second team went down 3-2 to Newtonmore second team in the Strathdearn Cup Final at Spean Bridge on Saturday 9 August 2014. Iain Robinson, who scored a hat-trick in the semi-final win over Glenurquhart, put ‘More ahead after 12 minutes to make it 1-0. Skye levelled on 21 minutes when the ball broke to Ally “Cleodi” MacLeod and he finished well to make it 1-1. Newtonmore went back in front in 27 minutes when the Skye defence failed to clear a corner and Brett Munro finished to make it 2-1 despite the efforts of Skye keeper Iain MacLeod. Skye levelled for a second time on 42 minutes when Ally “Cleodi” MacLeod got his second to make it 2-2 following a scramble in the Newtonmore defence. Newtonmore went in front for the third time on the stroke of half time as Iain Robinson notched his second of the game to make it 3-2. There was no scoring in the second half and Newtonmore did enough to lift the trophy which was presented to their captain and keeper Owen Fraser. The Skye Camanachd Ladies did not have a game but they were fund raising at the Skye Agricultural Show on Saturday 9 August 2014. The Skye Camanachd U17 will not be back in action until after the school holidays. Skye Camanachd A U14 and Skye Camanachd B U14 will also not be back in action until after the school holidays. |
