04 June 2016 Skye Camanachd played five fixtures in what was a busy schedule over the course of the last seven days. The Skye Camanachd first team drew 0-0 with Kingussie in their Marine Harvest Premiership meeting at the Dell on Saturday 4 June 2016. Skye had chances in the game but their defence was also solid in a keenly contested fixture. It’s Skye’s fifth draw in six league matches and although they drop to eighth place in the table, they have three games in hand on the three teams above them. The Skye Camanachd second team beat their Kingussie counter-parts 3-2 in their Marine Harvest North Division 1 clash at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 4 June 2016. All the goals came in the first half. Skye took the lead after just 3 minutes when John Angus MacInnes found Ruaraidh MacLeod on the Skye left and he cut in to score a good goal. Ally “Cleodi” MacLeod made it 2-0 when his 25 yard shot took an awkward bounce in front of Kings’ keeper Robert Shiells and the ball flew into the net. Kingussie drew level with two almost identical goals from Kevin Thain on 35 and 41 minutes. On each occasion, Thain gathered the ball with his back to goal on the left of the D before turning to score. Skye got themselves back in front on 42 minutes when Iain MacLellan hit the ball on the turn from wide on the Skye right and he netted what proved to be the winning goal. Kingussie pressed hard for a leveller in the second half but the Skye defence, in which Neil John Campbell was a stand-out, stood firm and the win lifts Skye to sixth spot in the table. The Skye Camanachd Ladies went down 4-2 to Badenoch & Strathspey Ladies in a Marine Harvest National Division 1 game at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 4 June 2016. Lorna MacRae and Emma Gordon were on target for Skye in this noon throw up but a Zoe Reid brace and goals from Jeanette McGregor and Rhona McIntyre gave the visitors the win. The Skye Camanachd Ladies development team were not in action as this weekend’s scheduled round of development fixtures will now be played at a later date. Skye Camanachd U17 are through to the MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final after they beat Kinlochshiel U17 6-0 in their semi-final tie at Kirkton on Tuesday 31 May 2016. Ruaraidh MacLeod grabbed a hat-trick, James Pringle scored twice and Ross Gordon got the other. Skye Camanachd U17 will now play Fort William U17 in the MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final at the Bught Park on Saturday 11 June 2016. Throw up is at 1pm and Andy MacLean is the match referee. Skye Camanachd B U14 beat Newtonmore U14 7-0 in their MacMaster Cup quarter-final tie at the Eilan on Friday 3 June 2016. Skye led 6-0 at the break. Dan MacDonald scored four times for Skye, Ross Gordon netted twice and Abby MacLean got the other to take Skye through to the last four in the tournament. |
