02 September 2017 The games are over and this week’s Skye Camanachd results are in. It was an historic day for the Skye Camanachd Ladies as they won the Marine Harvest Valerie Fraser Cup for the first time, beating Lochaber Ladies 6-1 in the final at An Aird. This was a dominant Skye performance and Lorna MacRae gave them the lead after just 3 minutes. Lorna MacRae added a second on 17 minutes and although Alison MacVicar pulled a goal back for holders Lochaber on 23 minutes, Lorna MacRae completed her hat-trick on 29 minutes to make it 3-1 at the break. Lorna MacRae made it 4-1 on 46 minutes with Jenna Beaton netting just 4 minutes later. Skye captain Lorna MacRae rounded off the scoring; making it 6-1 on 67 minutes and her five goal haul earned her a deserved player of the match accolade. The Skye Camanachd first team did not have a fixture. The Skye Camanachd second team have completed their competitive fixtures for the season. Skye Camanachd U17 played two fixtures this week, first beating Glenurquhart U17 4-2 in their London Shield meeting at Blairbeg on Tuesday 29 August 2017. Oliver Black scored both goals for the hosts but a Stewart Taylor brace and strikes from Martin Pringle and Connor Gilpin gave Skye victory. Next up was a 2-0 victory over Strathglass U17 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree in their London Shield match on Thursday 31 August 2017. Martin Pringle and Mark MacQueen got the goals that made the difference. Skye Camanachd U14 did not have a match this week. |
