01 August 2015 The Skye Camanachd Ladies were the only Skye team in action this week. The Marine Harvest National Division match between Skye Camanachd and Beauly at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 1 August 2015 was postponed. The pitch was deemed unplayable on Saturday morning with both goalmouth areas causing the problem. The Skye Camanachd second team did not have a fixture. Glasgow Mid Argyll Ladies beat Skye Camanachd Ladies 4-2 in their Marine Harvest National Division 1 match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 1 August 2015. This match was able to go ahead because the ladies used a shorter pitch which excluded the problematic goalmouth areas. The noon throw up was delayed by half an hour to try and allow some surface water to drain from the pitch. When the match started, GMA took the lead through Joan Nicolson after 13 minutes. Indeed Nicolson completed a first half hat-trick with further goals on 24 and 37 minutes. Skye pulled a goal back a minute before the break when Anna MacDonald played in Abby MacLean and she finished confidently to make it 3-1 at half-time. However Joan Nicolson got her and GMA’s fourth goal 10 minutes into the second half to make it 4-1. Abby MacLean got her second goal on 61 minutes with another good finish after a great pass from Ilana Paterson. The 4-2 defeat is a dent to Skye’s title chances but they have the chance to bounce back next weekend when they travel to the Dell to play Badenoch & Strathspey Ladies in a match which is crucial to both teams’ title chances. Skye Camanachd U17 will not be in action now until after the summer break. Skye Camanachd U14 will not be in action now until after the summer break. |
