Skye Camanachd Ladies 3 Lochaber Ladies 1 | |
01 June 2016 The Skye Camanachd Ladies had a terrific 3-1 win over Lochaber Ladies in a tight Marine Harvest National Division 1 encounter at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 28 May 2016. Skye Head Coach Robbie Gordon fielded a strong side with Lorna MacRae playing just behind Jenna Beaton and Emma Gordon in attack. Lochaber Head Coach Michael Delaney was without Kirsty MacDonald and Regan Porter for this noon throw up. Lochaber came out on top when the sides met at Spean Bridge earlier in the season and this was a crucial game for two teams who are both very much in the title race. Skye took an early lead in this noon throw up with Rhianna Kirk scoring after 4 minutes. However Rebecca Stafford equalised on 8 minutes. A low Jenna Beaton strike from the right of the D put Skye back in front Lorna MacRae sealed the win with a long range drive which flew into the net to make it 3-1. This was a keenly contested encounter and both keepers made good saves at stages in the mach. The win, coupled with Badenoch & Strathspey’s 6-5 defeat to Aberdour at Silver Sands the following day, means Skye have eight points from five league matches. Lochaber are two points behind with the same number of games played whilst third placed Glasgow Mid Argyll have four points from four matches. Badenoch & Strathspey also have four points but they have played five matches. Skye have three matches remaining, at home to Badenoch & Strathspey this coming Saturday, at home to GMA on Saturday 25 June 2016 and away to Aberdour on Sunday 14 August 2016.
