Skye Camanachd first team manager John MacLeod was named Marine Harvest North Division 1 Manager of the Year at the 2014 Annual Marine Harvest Shinty Awards which took place in the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness on Friday 17 October 2014.
John MacLeod took charge of the Skye senior side after they dropped into shinty’s third tier at the end of the 2013 season. The club’s immediate aim was to win promotion and climb into shinty’s second tier. The Marine Harvest North Division 1 title has been secured and a crucial Marine Harvest National Division play-off with Ballachulish will take place at Blairbeg on Saturday 1 November 2014.
The team has also had a successful season in the cup competitions, winning the Balliemore Cup, coming runners-up in the RBS MacTavish Plate competition and, most impressively, reaching the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup semi-final stage.
John MacLeod and his management team – Davie Pringle, Donnie “Digg” MacDonald, Aonghas MacDonald, Ally “Mhor” Morrison & Douglas MacDougall - have all put in a lot of unseen work preparing the team for these games and he has been a major influence in the club’s dramatic change of fortunes this season.
