Skye Camanachd AGM | |
25 January 2018 The 2017 Skye Camanachd Annual General Meeting took place at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse on Saturday 20 January 2018. There was a minute’s silence at the start of the meeting to remember Skye Camanachd Vice-President and former Chieftain Flora MacLean who passed away the previous day. With the club’s team managers already appointed, there were few changes at committee level. Douglas MacDougall, Chrisanne MacDonald and Alasdair Bruce continue in their respective roles as Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Former player and committee member Ian MacDougall takes over as Chieftain as Kenny MacKay’s 3-year tenure had come to an end. The Skye Camanachd Social Club AGM took place afterwards where there was news of another successful year. The Island club had hoped to host the annual Ewen Morrison Memorial Cup match between North Skye and South Skye at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree earlier in the day but the snow left the field, and the Portree High School astro pitch, unplayable. Skye Camanachd have also confirmed their first and second teams pre-season programmes. With the Ewen Morrison Memorial Cup match likely to be rescheduled for Saturday 3 February 2018, John MacLeod’s Skye first team open with a match against Strathglass at Cannich on Saturday 10 February 2017. Fort William travel to Pairc nan Laoch, Portree a week later whilst Skye face Beauly, with the venue subject to pitch inspections, on Saturday 24 February 2018. Skye Camanachd second team manager Kenny MacLeod has also arranged a couple of warm-up games as Lewis Camanachd visit Pairc nan Laoch, Portree to contest the John “Kaid” MacLean Cup on Saturday 10 February 2018 whilst the Skye seconds travel the Craigard to play Glengarry on Saturday 24 February 2018, just seven days ahead of the start of the 2018 shinty season. |
