Skye Camanachd 3 Beauly 2 | |
30 April 2023 The Skye Camanachd colts came from behind to beat the Beauly colts 3-2 in a thrilling noon throw up at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 29 April 2023. After an even start, Skye keeper Calum Nicolson made a brilliant diving save to his left to palm away Leon MacLellan’s shot on the left from close range with the ball going out for a corner. It was Skye who took the lead on 17 minutes when good play from Charlie Latton got the Islanders forward and when Iain MacLellan’s strike from the right was saved with his legs by Beauly keeper Lennox Stewart, Taylor Matheson ran quickly in to turn the rebound home. Leon MacLellan levelled on 25 minutes, rounding the keeper to score and just 4 minutes later, Sean Stewart sent a blistering shot over the keeper’s right shoulder to give Beauly a 2-1 lead at the break. There were strong words in the Skye changing room at half time and the side responded a couple of minutes after the restart when Beauly failed to clear a free-hit and Archie Millar hammered the ball home from left of centre. The match was tousy at times and although Skye now had the bulk of the play, they didn’t find the winner until 6 minutes from time. Ian MacPherson picked out Shockie MacLennan with a corner from the left and he managed to touch the ball home from close range to claim the winner.
