Skye Camanachd 1 Badenoch 6 | |
24 September 2022 Badenoch retained the Mowi National Division title after beating second placed Skye Camanachd 6-1 in their 3pm throw up at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 24 September 2022. Badenoch’s only dropped point this season came in a draw with Lochaber whilst Skye’s only blemish was a beating by Badenoch at the Dell. This meant Skye needed to win to take the title whilst a draw would suffice for Badenoch. The teams sounded eachother out during the early stages but it was Badenoch who struck first on 15 minutes through Kirsty Deans. Just as they did in the Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup Final, Skye fought back and Rhianna Kirk levelled 5 minutes later. Badenoch regained the lead through Kirsty Deans on 24 minutes and this time they would stay in front. Zoe Reid added a second half brace on 42 and 54 minutes whilst it was fitting that skipper Kirsty Deans, who has been such an influential player for Badenoch this season, would round off the win with goals on 59 and 62 minutes. A trophy presentation followed, and the victory means Badenoch have done the double, adding the league title to the Mowi Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup Final won earlier in the month. |
