Skye Camanachd 0 Fort William 3 | |
01 October 2018 The Fort William seconds confirmed their second place finish in Marine Harvest North Division 1 with a 3-0 win over the Skye Camanachd seconds at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 29 September 2018. This was the Skye seconds final match of the season and David Grant, Ross Gordon, Marcus Scott, Calum Gibb are added to the squad which lost to Kinlochshiel three weeks earlier whilst Murphy Henderson takes over in goal as Ryan Morrison was with the first team. Fort William were without Jay Macleod who served a one-match ban for passing through the disciplinary points threshold. The Fort got off to a great start as Connor MacRae strode forward before unleashing a great drive on just 2 minutes to give the visitors the lead. Lewis Morrison added a second on 17 minutes when he punished slackness in the Skye defence. Skye lost full back Iain Murray shortly after half-time with a foot injury so their only substitute David Grant came on. Iain Murray went to full back with a later switch seeing him replacing Chris Rose at buckshee back as Rose switched up front with David Grant taking over at full back. Skye player / manager Kenny MacLeod had to come off with a back injury with 20 minutes remaining so Skye played the remainder of the match with just eleven players. Fort William showed good movement up front and Lewis Morrison got his second on 71 minutes to round off the 3-0 win. Skye keeper Murphy Henderson made some good saves throughout the game to prevent Fort William increasing their advantage. The Fort finish the season in second position; six points behind winners Newtonmore seconds and two points ahead of third placed Glengarry. The Skye colts end the season in fifth spot.
