Search For Former Skye Camanachd Volunteers | |
09 May 2018 John McNaught has been working with Skye Camanachd since June 2017 on the Throw Up 20.18 shinty art project. As well as documenting his time with the club photographically, he is also producing a series of hand- produced prints. Along with three other artists working with Beauly, Newtonmore and Fort William, their work will form a touring exhibition, debuting at the 2018 Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup Final in Oban. John has been using instant film to take portrait photos of the invaluable current volunteers without whom Skye Camanachd could not function or exist. Whether in an official capacity or not, these are the unsung heroes of the club and shinty. To complement these photos, he intends to produce linocut prints similar in dimensions to the instant prints. These will be portraits of people who are no longer with us, but during their lives gave time to the club. They could be from any period of Skye Camanachd’s 125-year history. To help with this, John needs people to nominate or suggest individuals from the past. They can be family members, friends or someone known to have played a role in keeping the club going. It would be great to get as many as possible before the exhibition in September. Ideally a photo of the person coupled with a few words would be helpful. John McNaught can be contacted directly by:
