RBS To Sponsor 2012 National First Shinty Festival. | |
26 December 2011 The Camanachd Association has announced that RBS will sponsor of the 2012 National First Shinty Festival. RBS take over as main sponsors from Gilmour Sports and the 2012 RBS National First Shinty Finals will be played at the Nevis Centre and Lochaber High School, Fort William on Saturday 25 February 2012. As many as fifteen regional qualifying tournaments will take place between now and the middle of February. This will involve more than 80 primary schools and in the region of 700 primary school age shinty players. A total of 22 qualifying schools and approximately 200 primary school age shinty players will then take part in the RBS National First Shinty Festival. Camanachd Association President Archie Robertson welcomed the new sponsor and he said, “We are delighted to have RBS on board with the National First Shinty competition. These Finals are a tremendously important stage in a young shinty player’s pathway and a key component of the Association’s drive to increase the number of schools offering shinty to pupils. To have the support of an organisation like RBS is excellent and this is a partnership that the Camanachd Association can build on for the future.” RBS Sponsorship Manager Bruce Cook was also pleased with the partnership, “Shinty has a fantastic heritage in Scotland and the sport is of great importance to many of the communities where we do business. This festival plays an important role in the long-term sustainability of the sport and we’re very pleased to offer our support.” |
