09 February 2013 The pre-season friendlies continued on Saturday 9 February 2013 and Sunday 10 February 2013.
Fort William 7 Skye Camanachd 1 A powerful second half performance gave Fort William a 7-1 win over Skye Camanachd at An Aird. Skye lost full back Steven Morrison through injury early in the game which forced manager Willie MacRae into a reshuffle. The Islanders gave a good account of themselves in the first half though and they had the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot but Kenny MacLeod’s effort rose over the bar. However visiting keeper Michael Nicolson was forced into some good saves to keep the Fort forwards at bay. The home team took control at the start of the second half and they looked the sharper side in what was their third pre-season friendly in as many weeks. Gordie MacKinnon was their top scorer with four goals; Ryan Campbell bagged a brace whilst Alexander MacMillan got the other. Will Cowie got a consolation goal for Skye.
Caberfeidh 2 Kingussie 2 Louis Munro gave Kingussie an 8 minute lead against Caberfeidh at Castle Leod. However Martin MacDonald made it 1-1 on 35 minutes and a Kevin Bartlett strike on 43 minutes gave the home side the lead at the break. Lee Bain was on target 4 minutes into the second half to make it 2-2 and there was no further scoring.
Glenorchy 0 Lovat 3 Lovat travelled south to Dalmally where they beat Glenorchy 3-0 at Mart Park. Greg Matheson scored twice whilst his brother Jamie Matheson got the other.
Oban Celtic 3 Strathglass 2 Oban Celtic came from 2-1 down to beat Strathglass 3-2 in Oban to lift the Robert Wylie Memorial Trophy.
Glenurquhart 1 Beauly 0 Glenurquhart beat Beauly 1-0 at Blairbeg. The Glen had Ewan Brady back in their side after a two year spell with Glengarry and he played well. Fraser Heath got the only goal of the game to give Glen the win.
Kilmallie 2 Kinlochshiel 0 Duncan Kelly’s regime as Kilmallie first team manager got off to an impressive start as they beat Kinlochshiel 2-0 at the Canal Parks. Michael Rodger and Grant MacKenzie got the goals and the win was all the more impressive as Kilmallie were without John Stewart who had a foot injury and Liam MacDonald who broke his hand in training last week. Liam Cameron was also missing.
Beauly 2 Lochaber 1 Beauly edged Lochaber 2-1 in a meeting of the club’s respective reserve sides at Braeview Park.
Inveraray 7 Strachur 0 Managerless Inveraray ran out comfortable 7-0 winners against Strachur at the Winterton.
Glasgow Mid Argyll 7 Lochcarron 1 Glasgow Mid Argyll were too strong for Lochcarron and they ran out 7-1 winners at Yoker. Mark Bain chipped in with a hat-trick whilst Andy Mathie and Craig Anderson each scored twice. Iain Cameron got his second goal in two games for Lochcarron.
Ballachulish 7 Kilmallie 0 Ballachulish beat the Kilmallie second team 7-0 at Jubilee Park. Scott Henderson helped himself to a hat-trick.
Glenurquhart 2 Boleskine 1 Goals from Euan Lloyd and Calum Miller gave the Glenurquhart second team a 2-1 win over Boleskine at Blairbeg.
Lochbroom 3 Lewis Camanachd 2 Lochbroom came from 2-0 down to beat Lewis Camanachd 3-2 and win the Cuach a’ Chuain Sgìth fixture.
Glasgow Mid Argyll 3 Aberdour 1 A Garry Luke hat-trick helped Glasgow Mid Argyll to a 3-1 win over Aberdour at Yoker.
Skye Camanachd P Inverness P The match between Skye Camanachd and Inverness at Pairc nan Loach, Portree on Saturday 9 February 2012 was postponed following Callum McLeod’s decision to step down as Inverness manager this week.
Oban Camanachd P Bute P The friendly between Oban Camanachd and Bute at Mossfield was postponed.
Strathspey P Newtonmore P The match between Strathspey and Newtonmore on Saturday 9 February 2012 was postponed because of an unplayable pitch.
Strathglass 6 Inverness 0 Strathglass beat Inverness 6-0 as their reserve sides clashed in a 2pm throw up at Cannich on Sunday 10 February 2013. |
