Park Primary School Lift 2015 MacKay Cup | |
22 June 2015 Park Primary School lifted the 2015 MacKay Cup Final after they beat Newtonmore & Gergask Primary Schools 7-1 at the Winterton on Saturday 20 June 2015. Park took command in this noon throw up as Innes MacMillan gave them a 6 minute lead. Euan Morgan made it 2-0 on 23 minutes to give the Oban side a cushion. Innes MacMillan went on to score twice more to complete his hat-trick with just a couple of first half minutes remaining. Daniel Craven pulled a goal back Newtonmore & Gergask in the closing stages of the first half to make it 4-1 at the interval. Any hopes of a Newtonmore & Gergask come-back were foiled when Innes MacMillan scored twice more early in the second half to take his tally to five goals and give Park now a 6-1 lead. An Adam Munro strike on 45 minutes rounded off the 7-1 victory. Park captain Ryan Barclay was presented with the MacKay Cup to put alongside the National indoor title, Argyll-shire Gathering and the Iain MacMillan Memorial Tournament trophies which the team, coached by Alan McKechnie, has won already this season. It was no surprise when Park’s Innes MacMillan was awarded the Anne Cameron Memorial Quaich as player of the match. The MacKay Cup Final preceded the Artemis Macaulay Cup tie between Inveraray and Kyles Athletic which Inveraray won 3-1. |
