Newtonmore 3 Skye Camanachd 0 | |
23 May 2022 The Skye Camanachd second team lost 3-0 against the Newtonmore second team in their Strathdearn Cup quarter-final tie at the Eilan on Saturday 21 May 2022. Tristan Ross gave ‘More the perfect start in this noon throw up with a strike into the bottom corner of the net after the home side broke up-field after just 2 minutes. Veteran Glen MacKintosh is central to so much of Newtonmore’s attacking play and he added a second on 29 minutes before netting again following a quick free-hit on 51 minutes. Skye’s Ali MacLeod saw an effort ruled out by referee Deek Cameron with play brought back for a Skye free-hit as the Islanders claimed advantage should have been played. ‘More did enough to win the tie although their goalie Jason MacDonald made several good saves including two late stops from Skye skipper Ian MacPherson.
