New Shinty Coaches Go Through Their Paces | |
02 February 2016 A number of new shinty coaches were put through their paces at the Portree High School Fingal Centre on Saturday 23 January 2016. The coaches undertook a Foundation Coaching Certificate course, designed to help any adult aged 16 years or over, with limited knowledge of coaching or the game of shinty, work with youth players as an assistant coach. Those taking part were shown the basic “How to Coach” and “How to Coach” techniques. The one-day course was delivered by Camanachd Association North Development Officer Katie Drain. Skye Camanachd first team player Iain Murray, who coaches youngsters at MacDiarmid Primary School and the North Skye team, was present as was Skye Camanachd second team player James Pringle. They were joined by Heather Beaton, Maria Bennet, Isla Campbell, Kirsty Dibble, Melanie MacKinnon, James Pringle, Kenny Smith and Stewart Taylor who all attained their Foundation Coaching Certificate. |
