He is also a SFA qualified football coach and a qualified fitness / gym instructor and he will join the team at the end of September 2015. Rhoda Cameron joins the team with immediate effect as Finance & Administration Manager, based at the Camanachd Association Headquarters in Inverness. She is originally from Skye and has gained extensive experience in finance and office management from a range of commercial and third-sector organisations, including running her own consultancy for a number of years. She will lead on the administration and management of the Camanachd Association office, finances and membership, plus play a role in the Association’s wider communication and promotional activity and can be contacted on admin@shinty.com / 01463 71593. Camanachd Association Preside Jim Barr said, “These are key roles and excellent appointments and we look forward to Paul and Rhoda joining the team in the coming weeks. This is an exciting time for shinty and their input will considerably strengthen and extend the Association’s development and administrative resource. With increased funding from sportscotland, we have been able to deliver on a key commitment in the agreed Strategic Plan for Shinty (2015 – 2017) to align the Association’s staffing structure with the objectives of the Plan, providing better support for Members and positioning the organisation to play its part in the sport’s overall objective of a 20% increase in membership (players / volunteers) by the end of 2017.” There is one more vacancy to fill following confirmation that Russell Jones will leave his post as Shinty Development Officer for the North region after four successful years in the job. He leaves to take up a senior position with a new company based in Kingussie, producing and supplying biomass fuel. Jones is currently co-manager with SSE Camanachd Cup holders Kingussie and he is also involved with their U17 side as well as being Club President so his involvement in the game will continue.
