Morag Grant, Portree | |
22 August 2016 Everyone at Skye Camanachd was saddened to her of the passing of Morag Grant, Portree. Morag Grant was a much respected school teacher in Portree for many years and she was a well-known figure within her own community and further afield. Her four sons all represented Skye Camanachd with her eldest son Ewen Grant captaining Skye Camanachd to Sutherland Cup victory in 1979. He also went on to become Skye Camanachd Club Secretary for a number of years as well as being a founder member of the Skye Camanachd Social Club Committee. His brothers Derek Grant, Campbell Grant and Alasdair Grant also all played for the club and all four have maintained a keen interest in the game and support for the team to this day. Morag’s Grandson David Grant currently captain’s the Skye Camanachd second team and a number of his cousins have also played for the club. There was a minute’s silence ahead of Skye Camanachd’s Marine Harvest North Division 1 match against Kinlochshiel at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 20 August 2016 to mark Morag’s passing. Morag Grant’s funeral will take place at the Church of Scotland, Portree on Thursday 25 August 2016. The Service starts at 2pm with the internment at Portree Cemetery thereafter. There will be soup and sandwiches and a warm welcome at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse afterwards. The sympathies from everyone at Skye Camanachd go out to Morag’s family and friends. |
