Mixed Fortunes For Scotland University Sides | |
22 November 2014 There were mixed fortunes for the Scotland University men and women’s sides as they lined up against their Irish counter-parts in their Shinty / Hurling / Camogie matches at Clonbullogue, Offaly on Saturday 22 November 2014.
Men’s International Scottish Universities were too strong for their Irish opponents as they ran out (7-15) 36-15 (2-9) winners in their Shinty / Hurling clash. Fort William’s Arran McPhee, who featured in both the Scotland’s U21 and U17 sides this year, scored (2-6) 12 in a contest which Scotland led from the outset. Scotland led by (1-14) 17-7 (1-4) at half-time with Shane Kelly netting Ireland’s goal. The goals flowed after the restart and by the time the final whistle came, Glasgow Mid Argyll’s Craig Anderson scored (2-2) 8 with Lochaber’s Conor Sweeney chipping in with (2-1) 7. Westmeath duo Eoin Price and Derek McNicholas – who have both represented the Ireland senior side in full internationals against Scotland - worked hard for the home side and although Ireland kept battling, Scotland were ruthless.
