Mary Gillies, Portree | |
13 April 2017 Everyone at Skye Camanachd was saddened to hear of the passing this week of Mary Gillies, Portree. Mary Gillies’ son John Angus Gillies is a former Skye Camanachd player and was of course part of the club’s 1990 Camanachd Cup winning squad. John Angus is also currently a Grade 1 referee, officiating each week at top games throughout the country. His son, Mary’s grandson, John Gillies, broke into the Skye Camanachd first team at the start of last season and the Scotland U21 cap has been an ever-present since then. The condolences from everyone at Skye Camanachd go out to John Angus, his sister Dolina and the extended family and there will be a minute’s silence ahead of both Skye Camanachd fixtures this coming weekend. Mary Gillies’ funeral service takes place at the Free Church Continuing, Portree, Isle of Skye on Wednesday 19 April 2017 at 11am and onwards to Portree Cemetery thereafter. There is an invite from the family to join them at the Cuillin Hills Hotel, Portree for refreshments following the internment. Family flowers only and donations, if desired, can be made to Crossroads Care. |
