Skye Camanachd pair Iain MacLeod and Jordan Murchison have been named in the Scotland U21 squad ahead of the Shinty / Hurling international against Ireland U21 at the Bught Park on Saturday 24 October 2015.
Scotland U21 Head Coach Garry Reid has narrowed his training squad of 23 players down to a final squad of 19 players for this month’s Celtic clash.
Iain MacLeod started the season in the Skye Camanachd second team but quickly established himself as first choice keeper in a Skye side which only lost ten goals in twelve league matches.
Jordan Murchison scored 32 goals as Skye Camanachd achieved back-to-back promotions, culminating in a place in shinty’s top flight for the first time since 2002.
The full Scotland U21 squad will be announced shortly but postings on social media suggest MacLeod and Murchison will be joined in the squad by Caberfeidh brothers, Blair & Craig Morrison, Kinlochshiel trio Jordan Fraser, Oliver MacRae and Donald Nixon, Kyles Athletic pair Innes MacDonald and Cammy Keith, Beauly’s Ewan Campbell (formerly of Uist Camanachd) and Jack MacDonald, Calum Stewart from Newtonmore and Craig Anderson From Glasgow Mid Argyll.
The young Scots will be looking for a repeat of last year’s terrific win over the Irish; their first on Irish soil at this level.
