MacDonald Goal Makes A Point - Beauly 1 Skye Camanachd 1 | |
03 April 2013 A second half goal from Angie MacDonald earned Skye Camanachd a point as they drew 1-1 with Beauly in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 meeting at Braeview Park on Saturday 30 March 2013 The Islanders had an early start as they set off for this noon throw up. Beauly were without Ryan MacKay and William Ferguson, who were both sent off in the win over Kingussie last weekend. Andrew Banks made his first appearance of the season for the Islanders and Iain Nicolson was also included although his work commitments meant that he was unavailable for the start of the game. Stewart Grant was also missing. Beauly made a lively start and they took the lead before Skye had a chance to settle into the game. It was Martin Davidson who did the damage as he made space for himself before sending a low, hard shot past Jamie Gannon to give Beauly a 3 minute lead. Skye’s Iain Nicolson arrived after 15 minutes and immediately joined the attack. Indeed he went close to scoring twice before having to move back to defence after 21 minutes when Neil John Campbell picked up an injury. Skye keeper Jamie Gannon was the busier of the two goalies but he was mainly called upon to carry out some tidying up clearances. However Beauly did go close when Gannon palmed a Jordan Keil effort onto the post. Skye levelled after 62 minutes when a fine Angie MacDonald shot seemed to take a slight deflection and looped into the Beauly net. Beauly had most of the second half pressure without really troubling Jamie Gannon and they found the Skye defence to be dogged at every turn. This was a solid team performance by Skye with defender DJ Gilpin again the pick of their players.
