24 March 2015 Skye Camanachd Ladies dropped a point when they drew 0-0 with Lochaber Ladies in their Marine Harvest National Division 1 encounter at Spean Bridge on Sunday 22 March 2015. Skye Ladies Head Coach Sarah Corrigall was still missing so Robbie Gordon continued in charge of the side. Caitlin MacLean and Catriona Gibb returned to the squad with Katie Lamond dropping out. There was just one change to the starting Skye line-up which beat Oban Lorn Ladies 7-0 last weekend as Caitlin MacLean, who had yet to gain full fitness, replaced Ilana Paterson in goal. The Skye midfield of full centre Lorna MacRae, with her trusted wingers Izzy Law and Emma Gordon, dominated the early play. Skye were not getting it all their own way though as Lochaber were in fine form and the game was well contested at both ends of the park. Skye pressed forward at every opportunity with shots at goal from Jenna Beaton, Kirsty Dibble and Anna MacDonald. It was Dibble who had the first real shot on target, forcing a brilliant save from the Lochaber keeper. When Lochaber got past the centre line, they pushed the Skye defence but the visitors showed some class at the back with Roz Lamond in fine form. Young Skye defender Christina MacDonald did well against Zoe Smith and after a short spell off the pitch for a tactics talk, MacDonald returned to show why she is now a key player for Islanders. Skye were dealt a blow when defender Nicola MacSween had to come off due to injury. Ilana Paterson displayed her versatility, coming on in MacSween’s place. Skye continued to push forward and, prompted by Kirsty Dibble, they conjured up several shots on goal from Jenna Beaton and Anna MacDonald but the match remained scoreless at half time. Skye made changes at half time with the introduction of Catriona Gibb for Kirsty Dibble. Gibb went to full centre which allowed Lorna MacRae to join the attack. Skye kept control of the midfield area with Law and Gordon putting in a huge effort to support the forwards. Catriona Gibb took control in the centre line and she was involved in some good play which let the visiting forwards have what seemed like endless shots on goal. The young Lochaber keeper was now stopping shots for fun and she could do no wrong, matching whatever the Skye forward line could throw at her. Skye were becoming frustrated as shot after shot would either go wide or be saved. In an attempt to change things, Skye took Jenna Beaton back into the centre line with Emma Gordon moving up front. This created even more shots on the keeper, but Skye still couldn’t make the break-through. It was a day of frustration for the Skye camp as the game ended without a goal and Lochaber breathed a sigh of relief at referee David Stafford’s final whistle. Skye Camanachd Ladies are next in action on Saturday 18 April 2015 when they host Lochaber Ladies at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree.
